Principles of Collaboration: Their Meaning for Advancing EBP
Ellen Fineout-Overholt, PhD, RN, College of Nursing, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, USA

Collaboration is often perceived as a compromising endeavor.  The twelve important principles of collaboration that will be presented in this first presentation will assist participants to realize that compromise is not the primary function of collaboration. Rather fostering a common vision, outcome/goal and building a trusting relationship can lay the foundation for a collaborative partnership that can lead to remarkable achievement.  The initial information in this first presentation will provide participants of the symposium with a common knowledge base as a starting point for appreciating the exemplars found in the other 3 symposium presentations.
