SYMPOSIUM
Friday, 21 July 2006: 3:30 PM-5:00 PM
Collaboration is the Key to Advancing EBP: Locally, Regionally, Nationally & Globally
Learning Objective #1: 1)Discuss how to use principles of collaboration within local, regional/state-wide, national, and international groups to advance EBP through achievement of a common outcome.
Learning Objective #2: 2)Describe exemplars that demonstrate how collaboration assisted in advancing EBP on multiple levels by accomplishing more than one person could have accomplished alone.
A common purpose leads to a common identity that produces a common reputation and product- this is collaboration. When nurses and other healthcare providers join forces, building on their strengths, more can be accomplished, and the strength of their diversity allows them to reach further than anyone’s singular vision. This symposium is designed to expose participants to what can be produced to advance EBP on multiple levels when necessary principles of collaboration are used to produce extraordinary results. The first presentation will discuss twelve important principles of collaboration, which is designed to provide all participants with a common knowledge base as a starting point. Each presentation will build upon the prior. The second presentation will discuss the benefits and challenges of local collaborations, providing exemplars in the community and within an agency. The third presentation will demonstrate the benefits and challenges of fostering regional/statewide collaboration through two unique collaborative efforts. The final presentation will provide strategies for securing and maintaining national and global collaborations to facilitate advancing EBP in the US and across the globe.
