Learning Objective #2: The learner will be imformed about the reliability of EORTC -C30 questionnaire in a Greek sample. |
Aim. The aim of this presentation is to assess the reliability of the EORTC-C30 questionnaire measurement of home health care cancer patients and their nurses. This is the pilot study of an evidence based project with title “Evaluating the quality of life of home health care cancer patients: assessments by patients and home care nurses”.
Materials and Methods: The sample of this research was carried out in 150 Greek home health care cancer patients and 6 home health care nurses (patient-nurse pairs). All patients completed the questionnaire themselves. The nursing questions were identical to those of the patients, but were slightly rephrased so that every question referred to the patient.
Results. The results of this study show that this questionnaire has proved to be an acceptable tool for the present research. The Cronbach α reliability, for the patient’s questionnaire, was found to be ranged between 0.48-0.95 (0.48 for the emotional functioning item). These values are measured according to the Greek weighted questionnaire. The reliability, for the nurse’s questionnaire, was found to be ranged between 0.36-0.97 (0.36 for the nausea and vomiting item).
Conclusion. The results support that the EORTC-C30 (version 3) questionnaire is a reliable measure for the assessment of the health related quality of life in Greek home health care cancer patients and it could be comparable to their nurse’s assessment.
