Description/Overview: This presentation will focus on the use of high-fidelity patient simulation for nursing. Participants, of all levels of familiarity with simulation, are encouraged to become involved in this hands-on opportunity so that they can understand the simulated clinical experience from the learner's point of view. Discussion will surround the various components of the simulated clinical experience that have been found to have an impact on learning: fidelity, facilitator involvement, group size, debriefing, and evaluation, for example. Group discussions will then be held to further solidify ideas for research that can lead to a better foundation of evidence-based practice for this teaching methodology.
Learner Objective #1: Identify components of the simulated clinical experience (SCE) that contribute to learning.
Learner Objective #2: Develop research ideas and questions about learning with patient simulation.
